Alan became President of American Business in 1982. The firm was founded in 1967 and is positioned as a high-end insurance resource to CPA and Law firms, Risk Management firms, Financial Advisors, and Sports / Entertainment agencies. American Business is an independent firm and has a national footprint with over 50 full-time insurance professionals and 40,000 policyholders.
Alan, and his team, specializes in working with high-net worth families and their advisors, to coordinate and implement life insurance strategies within their estate and business structures. He writes on subjects relating to matters of interest in the life insurance and affluent planning fields. He also conducts a weekly webinar broadcast every Monday morning to the firm’s Professionals, and is open to any advisor or client. He has been a featured speaker at a number of industry and client related events.
Alan graduated from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania undergraduate, in 1977, is a USTA & USPTA Member and also a Certified New York State Insurance Instructor, CPE & CLE approved courses. He is a former National Trustee of CCFA (Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America) and Chairman of CCFA Fairfield / Westchester Research Alliance. He was also Chairman of Judge Anthony Scarpino’s successful 2000 and 2010 Westchester County Surrogate Court election campaigns. He was the Chairman of Judge Anthony Scarpino’s successful 2016 Westchester County District Attorney election campaign.
Alan resides in Mamaroneck, NY with his wife Ellen. Ellen has just closed her shop, EB Barrett after 10 successful years. Alan’s dad, Burt, has been his CFO for the past 9 years. At 88, Burt still has more energy and knowledge than people half his age.
